Google’s purchase of AdMob Inc. will make it the Internet’s largest mobile advertising company. The AdMob acquisition will help Google enter a market on the iPhone where it has only tested the waters so far. Google began a revenue-sharing pilot program to place targeted advertising in applications in June. But Schmidt said that mobile revenue is growing faster than regular revenue, and Google wants to expand its role even further in the mobile phone space.

Motorola Droid sold 100,000 in first weekend, over a million iPhone 3GS sold in its first three days of sale

Motorola-Droid-Adroid-2Motorola’s new Android-based Droid, which launched on Verizon Wireless last Friday and aims to take on Apple’s iPhone, is estimated to have sold about 100,000 units in its first weekend according to analysts.

Most stores surveyed sold at least half of their stock. With more phones based on the Google Android mobile operating system releasing this quarter, Motorola is predicted to sell 1 million to end 2009, and 10 million in 2010.

Samsung Bada: the new iPhone and Android platform rival

This new addition to Samsung’s mobile ecosystem enables developers to create applications for millions of new Samsung mobile phones, and consumers to enjoy a fun and diverse mobile experience.

The company’s current smartphone lineup is about 80% Windows Mobile and 20% Symbian. A year ago, the company released the new Windows Mobile Omnia as its flagship offering, but followed up this year with the Omnia HD using Symbian instead, a move identical to Sony Ericsson’s release of the Windows Mobile Xperia X1 followed by this year’s Symbian-based Idou.
