With iPhone OS 3.0, Apple added an age rating system for applications. This not only allowed parents to set appropriate application access for their families, but also opened up the potential for developers to release applications with more adult-oriented content, until Apple received “numerous complaints” from users asking for the “Wobble iBoobs” app to be removed from the App Store.

Apple iPad: could be cheaper, really!
iSuppli Corp. reported that the multi-touch 9.7-inch display on the iPad could cost around $80, while its custom-designed A4 processor would cost about $17 per unit. The 16GB of memory is estimated to cost about $29.50.
Total parts cost would be $219.35… well below the starting price of $499 for the 16GB iPad. Manufacturing costs add just $10 to the total cost of the low-end model, bringing it to $229.35.

Apple iPad price starting at $499, available in March
Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the long-awaited Apple Tablet today: the official name is iPad.
“iPad is our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price,” Jobs said. “iPad creates and defines an entirely new category of devices that will connect users with their apps and content in a much more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before.”

Apple to unveil the “iSlate” Tablet on January 26 asked developers to get their iPhone Apps ready
Apple has scheduled a media event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on Tuesday Jan. 26, 2010, for a major product announcement. “Apple is preparing an announcement next month that many anticipate will be the official unveiling of its tablet, but the company has so far declined to confirm the existence of the device,” the Financial Times reported. “Wall Street analysts expect mass production of an Apple tablet to begin as early as February.”
The most likely name is “iSlate”, a trademark currently owned by a possible shell company set up by Apple to quietly obtain U.S. trademark protection for the name.
“Apple is preparing to show off a new, larger mobile device with a higher resolution display in January — probably a version of the Apple tablet we’ve been hearing about for months — according to a plugged-in source in the mobile industry,” Silicon Alley Insider reported Wednesday…

For increasing his company’s market cap a whopping $150 billion in the last 12 years, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was named the best-performing CEO in the world.
“The #1 CEO on the list, Steve Jobs, delivered a whopping 3,188% industry-adjusted return (34% compounded annually) after he rejoined Apple as CEO in 1997, when the company was in dire shape,” the report said. “From that time until the end of September 2009, Apple’s market value increased by $150 billion.”
Google Chrome vs. Safari
Everyone can finally download the public beta of Google Chrome for Mac. Many could think this is a piece of software that should only appeal to windows users, since they are the most subject to be unsatisfied by their Internet Explorer standard web experience, however there are reasons for you to try out Chrome even if you’re a happy Safari user.
